Audio Weirdness
Hey Cows, I am on a clients FCP and aside from being nicer than mine, it has some weirdness in the audio . Every time i hit play the audio seems to be a little out of sync. One time its ahed the next its behind. I hav adjusted the playback offset so the monitor at least matches now but even in the window on the mac it still seems out of sync. They do not have a sync gen. Is this causing problems???? Or is there some setting i have missed. They pretty much have the latest everything. FCP 6 / IOHD 16gig Ram and 8 cores of wunderfull goodnes. Any help would be great. Also as I play footage and scroll arounf the timeline the audio seems to want to catch up, Like the computer is physically running behind. Thanks in advance.

Is there a Kona card in their machine? I’ve seen a similar problem and it was cured by uninstalling (using the uninstall utility in the Kona directory) and then reinstalling the Kona drivers.

They Have a AJA IOHD. This is the first time i have played with one, but it seems the same as the LHE card and controls I have on my machine at home.
A cut is a cut & a dissolve is a disolve, and not just anybody with a system is a pro.

Just do the driver thing. It behave just the same as your LHe.

How Will this affect their machine will it erase any kind of settings or cause any other kind of rebuilding to be needed? Thanks for the info.

I have a similar situation with the machine I work on but I’ve always put it down to the video not being rendered; the pictures slow down as the frame rate drops to supposedly keep it playing in real-time, but the audio stays in what would be in sync if the pictures weren’t lagging behind.
Could this be what’s happening to you, Dan? And more importantly, could what David suggests solve it? I’ve until now assumed it was something I just had to put up with until we got a faster machine. -

In your case it simply sounds as if your RT settings are set for dynamic framerate, which allows for realtime playback without sacraficing picture quality.
RT settings are designed to degrade either quality or framerate t in order to allow high resolution, even HD, video to play without rendering. So, something has to give, and Apple put that choice in your hands. On your machine the framerate seems to have been set to change.
Dan’s situation is most likely a real issue, not just a setting.
