arrow wraping around text
hi, i am new to after effects and i been looking for a tutorial that helps me with something i want to do, by the tutorial that i haven seen i would say is would be very easy for any one with any knowledge.
so what i’m trying to do, but had no success at it is have a text or a logo and them a arrow rushing in and wrapping around the text like circulated a few times and run out of the screen..
is a common thing you see on t.v. but i tried it and i move my keyframe rotation they all move and i have zero idea how to give it a round effects for the circulatory motion.
so if any one know of any tutorial on this kind of any animation or would like to help me i thank you ahead.

Without a true 3D app. it would be hard to do well. You might be able to pull something off using CC cylinder for circling the text. But, then you will have another problem trying to transition from the arrow on the straight path to the circular path. If you new to AE, I would not start with something like this. Try to simplify you idea that would involve the arrow coming in, then cut to the arrow circling the text. It won’t look real smooth, but should get you idea across.

The closest thing would be Brian Maffit’s “what the helix going on?” tutorial, which can be found by Googling.
But as stevem wrote, doing the straight-to-curved transition would be hard, meaning you’ll have to make a separate straight arrow and try to make it meet the cylinder at the right point.
3D is better than AE for so many things.

alright thanks for the reponses, but i was looking forward for a program that could be easily merge with flash so i would do the animation in ae and use flash for the output.
which program would you recommen for doing those kind of 3d motions?
I remember using 3d mx a while back but it is a heavy program. -
i saw a tutorial making a ring around the creative cow logo and it looks like something i want to do.
but the othe problem i’m facing is rezising a shape, when i make a key frame to try and chage the size of the shape they all change in all key frame is there a way to make a shape gorw in different keyframe? -
