is it possible to animate a photoshop layer (flat or in 3d space) on a masked path like u can do to text?
Posted by David Lieberman on May 6, 2007 at 11:01 pmim trying to animate my missile on a path that goes up and then down… is there a way to draw the path with a pentool and apply it to the positioning of the missile, sort olf like the guide layer in FLASH?
thanks.

May 6, 2007 at 11:16 pmAbsolutely. The keyframes you generate for position property define a vector path called Motion Path. Each keyframe acts as node in this path. And you can edit each node so it is ‘hard” (linear) or gives you bezier handles (which you can of course also modify in a number of ways).
As an alternative, you can copy a Mask’s shape property (or AI or PS path), target position property and paste it as a motion path.Adolfo Rozenfeld

May 6, 2007 at 11:50 pmSelect the position property of the missile, create at least 2 different keyframes so you can see the motion path and use the pen tool (G) to edit it. You can edit it just like any other vector, add points, bezier curves, change handles, etc.

May 7, 2007 at 3:57 pmWhere are you trying to paste the path from? If it’s inside of AE you need to create a Mask Shape keyframe and copy that in order to paste it as position data.

May 9, 2007 at 10:21 amDoes anyone know if it’s possible to pick whip the mask shape to apply to a solid’s position? So if you alter the mask shape the position updates?
