  • Export Premiere Pro to FCP?

Posted by Arvin Bautista on July 22, 2008 at 7:17 pm

I’m making my transition from PC to Mac, and I’ve got just one non-essential project that I edited in Premiere that I’d like to move into FCP. All the footage I used is non-captured DV avi’s (it’s my motion graphics reel).

Is there any way to move it over? If not I’m just gonna totally finish the project on the PC and just be done with it.

    Hi Arvin,
I guess you can export from PP an XML. That should work.
However you will able to send to FC what is the basic cuts. Motion transformations, effects, transitions, etc won’t show in FC because the two applications speak in a different language. Cuts are basically a list of TC INs and OUTs, so it shouldn’t be no problems. Speed change, I guess, won’t be translated either.

that’s the fastest and easiest way. FCP does not play nice with AVI’s.

Your only other bet is to export an EDL and then recapture everything to FCP.
