I’m using the Sony HRV-M15 HDV player to capture 1080 25p hdv fotage. The footage was recorded with free run TC. I noticed that FC cannot disregard timecode breaks when capturing HDV unlike DV. Hence my following questions:

    – when making new clips from each timecode break FC starts capturing a couple seconds (4-5s) after the TC break occured. Is this the result of the player or FC itself? Any way of changing this delay?

    – the footage was recorded on Sony V1 and on a Sony Z7. The tapes recorded on the latter won’t play on the player. Any idea why?

    Thanks in advance.

I’d see if there is a way to dub the camera masters so you don’t have free run TC anymore… (gotta be a way) I don’t understand ANY reason to shoot using free run TC… it hurts more than helps I think.

Or try using “non controllable device” and “capture Now”… course you run the risk of problems if you have to recpature for any reason.. TC won’t be correct at all.

If I have to use Capture Now I treat the media as if it came off tapeless media and back it up to another drive. This is particularly true with some HDV sources that just won’t batch capture (repeated abortive attempts to cue up).
