Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy field problem

    Hi,

I’m capturing SD footage to FCP, playing on a Sony HDV Z1U. I keep getting field dominance problems or something, as the footage always jitters on an external monitor. To fix it I either use a de-interlace filter, or go to sequence settings and change field dominace from lower to none.

How is this happening? Could it be the camera I capture from or FCP? I don’t want to have to de-inlerlace footage or to change default sequence settings, as this changes the footage.

If anyone knows what might be happening I’d appreciate it.

    thanks.

Deinterlacing can’t possibly be the correct solution, as the Z1U cameras don’t have the capability of shooting progressive. So, remove that filter and get that concept out of your noggin for good. It’s almost always a bad concept and the only reason it seems to have a positive effect is because you’re cutting vertical resolution in half, so you can no longer see the problem.

What version of FCP are you using?

Check the field order in the browser. What does it say? It should say lower first. Does it?
