    Hi Guys,
Have read all the MXO reviews and posts but simply haven’t been able to answer the following:
When working with SD 10 Bit uncompressed Quicktime files in Final Cut does MXO display a fully uncompressed pristine version of the timeline or a chronically effected version such that we see in the Final Cut canvas?

    Thoughts most appreciated.

    Best,

    J

As long as you use the MXO to send it to a good SD monitor…CRT preferrably. ANY SD image won’t look well on the Apple Cinema Display, as you are taking 720×486 pixels and blowing them up to 1920×1200. But, the MXO with a good Production CRT monitor and you will be good to go.

Mind you I have only used 8-bit uncompressed, but that looked good.

Thanks Shane……….it’s my understanding that MXO will provide 1 to 1 pixel viewing for SD on the ACD not just stretched to fit? Given it would be a relatively small image but that’s what we are used to monitoring in AE.
Curious also if MXO provides color accuracy continuity between applications on our system? In other words a 10-Bit Quicktime played back from the Final Cut time line will look identical when played back from Apple Color, Quicktime & After Effects via the MXO?

    Best,

True…that is just so small that I don’t use that way. I send it to my CRT. But yea, you can view it 1:1 and it will be small.

Well, via FCP and COLOR, yes, it should. Color support came with Leopard. Not sure about AE support…or QT. But if it supports all, then the quality should be the same.
