I’m wondering whether or not I can tape directly to Final Cut Pro with having to use a dv tape? Is there any way to use Capture Now to tape what I’m filming straight into FCP? If so, what would the process be?

    Thank you for your assistance.

FCP will record any valid video signal… it doesn’t need to be on tape.

Simply use “Capture Now”> noncontrollable device. Set your choice of codec and you’re good to go.

How you get your signal into FCP is another story. There are plenty of options for that. Look to AJA, Blackmagic, or simply the “Video In” on a DV deck connected via firewire. It all depends on your needs.
