    Pro Applications Update Release Notes
    Introduction
Pro Applications Updates improve reliability for Apple’s professional applications and are recommended for all users of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Server, and Logic Studio.

Pro Applications Update 2008-02 Release Notes
Update 2008-02 addresses installation issues, compatibility updates, and general performance issues and improves overall stability.

    Applications included in the update:

    Final Cut Pro 6.0.4
    Compressor 3.0.3
Final Cut Pro 6.0.4 Release Notes
This section contains release information about Final Cut Pro 6.0.4.

    Enhanced Final Cut Server Support
Final Cut Pro 6.0.4 has been enhanced to support the latest updates to Final Cut Server. If you are using Final Cut Server 1.1, the server can directly find, access, process, and track Final Cut Pro 6.0.4 projects and media files without converting them to XML files. This enhancement increases the reliability and efficiency of client and server access.

Changes to XDCAM HD422 Sequence Presets
Because XDCAM HD422 devices always record audio at a bit depth of 24 bits, the XDCAM HD422 sequence presets have been updated to include default audio bit depth settings at 24 bits.

    Update to Capturing HDV Clips
Updating your computer to use QuickTime 7.5 fixes a small issue when capturing HDV clips. When you use Capture Now to capture HDV clips and the capture runs beyond the end of the data on your tape, you can now stop the capture process by pressing the Esc key (Escape).

    All the best,

[Tom Wolsky] “…find, access, process, and track Final Cut Pro 6.0.4 ….. media files without converting them to XML files. This enhancement increases the reliability and efficiency of client and server access. “
    Hi
That’s what was demonstrated at the recent FCS World Tour – logging data added during the FCP Log & Transfer operation gets stored in the ‘captured’ QT file’s metadata, rather than in the FCP project’s XML.
So the clip’s logging details are independent of the project it was logged in – and are accessible in any FCP project that the clip is subsequently imported into.

One small step for Apple, one giant leap for the FCP editing community….

[walter biscardi] “Yay! What did they break this time? Anyone want to go first?”

Doesn’t appear to have anything meaningful, unless you have FCP server. Of course, they may not be telling us everything?

I’m going to pass. I just recovered from the severe “bitch-slapping” they gave us in the 6.0.3/7.4.5 updates. I really don’t need anymore drama right now, since each update seems to break plugins…

Wow. Metadata. What a novel idea.

Does this only happen with log and transfer clips?

    I’m still running 6.01 & no leopard either 🙂

It’s been nice working stress free these past months.

I’m actually considering downgrading to 10.4.11 – I bought a new system that had Leopard installed, but there are so many things about it that are slower, I really miss the stability and speed of 10.4.11. I think Jeremy agreed with me on this in another thread, that Leopard at the finder level is sluggish, and it’s also slower at logging on to our internal web server which is on a PC. This login was instant on 10.4.11.

On a final Cut station, is there any good reason to run Leopard over 10.4.11?

Apologies if this is a thread-jack…seems relevant enough since we’re all talking about whether or not to install an Apple update.

I’m currently running 6.0.3, but this update hasn’t shown up in “software update”.

Shouldn’t it just update automatically, or do i have to manually download something?
