I have a HDV sequence that has several layers with text and graphics. I also have applied Bloom and motion to still images. At times there are up to 6 layers. The only way I can get this seq. out of FCP is to break it into small chunks, 20 seconds or so, and rebuild it into another seq using the QT files. This seems like a sad way to work. The main seq is only 90 seconds long. Once I export the rebuilt seq it’s all good.
If I try to render the main seq in it’s entirety it crashes also. I have to render by selecting small chunks and render selected.
My system is a 8 proc with 8 gigs of ram. The video card is the 8800.
I’m using two disks in a raid for the media.
The seq settings are set for HDV.
    Any help would be appreciated!

Yep. This happens. It’s Apple’s way of telling you that this program is not written to military spec.

    Drives me nuts.

I render in little chunks, or shot by shot in complex areas, and save save SAVE SAVE between mini-renders.

I have yet to find anyone who has slain this dragon.

    Harry.

(PS. I am on an Octo also – almost the same ssetup except that I’m using ProRes).
