    Hello All,

Here’s the deal. Trying to capture video off of a Canon HV30. The video format is HDV and the version of FCP that’s being used is 5.0.4. The problem is FCP doesn’t show any video during capturing. We have deck control, and when we capture using capture now the video clip that FCP brings in has video and audio, but their is no video in the preview window to log the video before we capture it.

I’ve tried everything I can think of. As far as I’m concerned the capture settings are correct. Capturing using HDV 1080i60 easy set up, device control set to HDV Firewire. Nothing else is hooked up the intel Mac Book Pro. Just the camera/deck. I am actually not working on this project but I was asked to help solve this problem, but nothing I have done works. Reinstalled Quicktime, tried different capture settings, powered the camera and MBP down and then started them back up. Nothing seems to resolve this issue.

Is there something simple that I’m missing?

    Thank You for your time

go into the menu of the camera and manually set the firewire for HDV.
It might be on DV or AUTO.
