  outputting problems

  Hi

  I am working from an powerbook g4 laptop osx version 10.4.11. I am using FCP version 5. 500G mybook laptop, sony z1 pal camera.
  today i tried to export a sequence from the timeline to my camera. the sequence was shot on HD and was then down converted to DV CAM. There really shouldnt be any problem because about four days ago I exported an earlier version of the same sequence with no hitches at all, however today this warning came up

  The selected audio and video devices may not match:

  -Apple Firewire Pal (720×576)
  -default

  please verify that the audio and video outputs are externally routed to the intended device

  Do you want to proceed? Cancel/Ok

  When i clicked ok it started recording as normal but no audio was being outputted.

  I have looked through my settings and they look the exact same as before. i cant understand why this problem has suddenly arisen. please help.

  “-Default” in this instance means that the audio is being sent to the mini stereo out on your laptop. For this to work you need to go to View in the tool bar and change your audio plack to have “Audio Follow Video”.

  After that it should be smooth sailing.

  Hi Eric,

  Thanks I did what you said and it worked, however ran into another problem immediately after and i dont know if it has something to do with what i changed.
  When printing to video it worked perfectly until the end, just as the credits come up the droped frames warning box came up. I figured that maybe the scrolling text was corrupt so i deleted it and made a brand new one, this stopped the droped frames but when printing to video the text would either not show at all and then stop or show but the music would stop.
  As i said before the exact same film was being exported last week and worked fine, very confused!

  Try blowing away your render files. Use the Render manager in the tools drop down in the tool bar.

  You may have a corrupt render file, or be running low on space.

  Should neither of those work, export your timeline to a Quicktime file @ whatever codec you’re using- to your fastest drive), reimport the file, place it into a new timeline of the same settings as the QT and print to video that way.

  This method works great when you’re working with a lot of media spread across multiple drives, because it reduces the amount of media being referenced in the timeline to one clip in one place.

  Also, in the Audio/ Video Settings…. item in the FCP drop down in the tool bar, make sure everything is pointing to your firewire device.
