  upconverting from 720p to 1080p

  I shoot alot of 720p. I use the hvx200. I saw some footage on a 1080 50 inch tv. It did not look as good as I hoped. Would it be better to shoot 1080p. Maybe I need another camera.

  The HVX-200 shoots 1080.

  How did you view this footage on the 50″ HDTV. How the signal is received is a BIG part of it.

  Your camera only captures 800 lines max. Shooting 1080 is pointless unless you have a specific reason to do so.
