I know this is a common but can someone please point in the right direction to why im coming up with the black screen in capture now that is informing me that the system is waiting for time code. It worked fine on all other tapes. And i have tried to change the device settings to non-controllable etc. Any advice?
    Thank you,
    Chris

Did it work when you changed it to non controllable device?

Are you trying to capture the first 5 seconds of the tape?

Does your tape have timecode breaks?

Thank you for your help. No, sir. I did not seem to work when I changed it to non-controllable device. I’m starting the capture at least a minute in to the tape. Yes it does have time code breaks.

Timecode breaks are a pain for FCP.

Make sure you cue it up and put the record point a good 5 seconds AFTER the timecode break.

Or… capture the whole tape via capture now and dump BACK to tape. This will give you consistent timecode and you’ll be fine after that.

    Good luck though…

Hey, thanks; however, It’s capture now that I have been having this problem with. Which is odd. Could this be happening because of a lack of hard drive space?

Maybe… Capture Now uses the preference setting for maximum time of capture now (or something like that…) – if you have it set for 60 minutes it’s going to set aside 12 gigs of space right at the start. Unlike Log and Capture which will only set aside the space needed to do a clip.

    1) Try setting a different scratch drive
    2) Try lowering your capture now setting (user preferences)
