  • ‘Recent Projects’ list

So once again, rather than editing, I’m sitting here trying to figure out why my Final Cut Studio is not doing what it’s supposed to do. Ugh…

When I close FCP and reopen, the ‘Recent Projects’ list (File>Recent Projects) reverts back to projects I had open about a week ago. The projects I had open right before I closed it aren’t on that list.

    Anyone else have this issue?

    Thanks guys!

I don’t know if it’s directly related but I noticed if you don’t open the project with the File:Open it doesn’t show up n the list i.e. if you create a new project, work on it all day and quit – the next day it won’t be in the recent list since you never ‘opened’ it. Also, and this may be just me, I’m getting a LOT of crashes on quitting and it resets the list after a crash.

Are your projects on a SAN or some sort of removable storage?

That is probably the answer. We store our project files on the SAN which doesn’t launch then the computer boots. I have notice that the Recent Projects list reset everyday ever since we got a SAN with FCP 5.
I’ve also noticed that if the Recent Projects list resets itself in the middle of the day for no reason it is a symptom of corrupt preferences.

Thanks for all the excellent suggestions!

I thought about some of that, too. The project file is on my main internal HD and I do open it using File>Open. I fear it’s probably just one of many quirky FCS2 things I’m going to have to live with.

I’m having SO many crazy issues like this since upgrading to FCS2. The last version seemed to be much more stable. In our office we have a list of common workarounds that we hang by each FCP machine. It’s sad but true.

    Thanks again, guys!
