    Hi there

I shot some footage with Pana HDX900 at system setting 720-50p,camera setting 25p.This is the standard setting I use for PAL countries… and have never heard of any problems.
But had news from German clients that they cant digitise the tapes???? Iam not an editor so have no idea what the problem is,and Iam sure they are sorting it out for themselves.. but wondered if anyone here has any idea why they are having problems… besides that they may be drunk… crack heads etc 🙂

Seems they have sorted it out! But while Iam here… shooting 1080i or 720p with the HDX900,is shooting one or the other have any advantages in the edit process?

It really depends on what advantages you are looking for and what the final deliverable is.

It’s hard to say that one is much more better than the other.

Shooting 720p allows shooting in variable frame rates for over and under cranking and true progressive layoff and mastering.

1080i allows for greater resolution in post, but the 900 has 720p native chips, so the camera is using a pixel shift to get that 1080 image. So really, you aren’t gaining too much resolution with that particular camera.

So, it really depends on what you’re after and what the editors want.
