Choosing sequence settings for 4:3 into 16:9 timelin
I have a 640 x 480 interlaced video clip that I want displayed 16:9 letterbox in DVDSP for broadcast on television. The frame size sequence settings are set to HD1080i (16:9).
After first rendering the sequence, I exported a QT reference file. For an 8 minute sequence, the file was over 5GB.
Would the “HDTV 720p” setting make the rendering go faster and produce a smaller reference file — my thinking is that the original clip doesn’t need to be scaled up to 1080 since it will ultimately be scaled down to 720×480.
I chose the 1080i setting because the clip was interlaced, but would the HDTV 720p setting produce the correct aspect ratio as well?
