multiclip & codecs
Hi,
I am currently working on a multiclip project wich involve 2,1 TB of HD ProRes codified datas. I need to lower the amount of data stored so that I can pass this project to various editors that work on laptops.
I was happy with jpeg (the footages reduced from 2.1 tb to 75 gb) until I discovered that jpeg footages won’t work properly in a multiclip environment.
Any suggestion?? which codec should I use??

A codec lighter than Proress that keeps the quality and easy to edit. I don’t think there is such

IMX 30 is about the size of DV but better formulated and still 4:2:2. We use IMX 50 all the time in Multicam without any problems, 30 shouldn’t be a deal either.

Media Manage to DV…won’t be AS LIGHT as Motion JPEG, but multiclippable.

tnx a lot… still I am so surprised, really there is no way I can work with jpeg footages in multiclip environment? anybody had my same experience??

FCP requires that all multiclip components be the same format, all DV, DVCPRO 50, HDV etc. A future version will probably allow for multi-codec, multiclip editing.

… but all my footages ARE the same codec… JPEG.
