    Try cleaning the video heads.

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1
    G5 2x2Gh 4GbRAM-BlackMagic Extreme
    PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
    JVC DTV-17″
    SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table.

It would help to know how and to what are you trying to play the video. Does it show up on the camera’s lcd monitor? On an external monitor being fed via the A/V cable?

it doesnt play through external monitor or on the camera’s LCD. i’ll try running a head cleaning cassette.

Head Cleaning doesnt seem to help at all. Is there anything else i should try?

Try to play the tape somewhere else. Could be a problem with the tape.

i tried playig the tape in a Sony HVR-M15E HDV deck, same problem, and in a Sony Z1, same problem. however o have got it playing a few times just fine but then if i turn the camera off or shuttle the tape the problem happens again. it doesnt happen on a particular part of the tpe, just at random.
