Hey all…I just recently purchased a Sony HR12, and am very excited to start editing some of my AVCHD footage. I just have a quick question about the main differences between transcoding the files into ProRes 422 versus Apple Intermediate Codec.

Is the quality better on one over the other? Does one take up less space? I currently have Final Cut Express 4, which if I’m correct, can only transcode to AIC, so I’m debating if it’s necessary to get Final Cut Studio 2 in order to use ProRes 422 instead, for the best possible quality.

    Thanks for the help!!!

    Mike
