  • DVCPro HD render and export time

I just started working with DVCPro HD yesterday. The footage was shot on a panasonic HVX-2000 at 1080i30P. The footage was imported with it’s native settings and brought into a 1080i30P timeline. It was green screen footage that was then keyed using DFT zMatte v2- zMatte Keyer. Several JPGs and PNGs were added to the timeline as well. The finished sequence was 2 minutes and 39 seconds.

When I attempted to render it, the render took about 3 hours. After fully rendering it, I attempted to export it as a quicktime movie using the DVCPro HD – 1080p30 settings. This export took about 2 hours.

The length of these render and export times strike me as far too long. Is this normal or does it seem like I’m doing something wrong? Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. I have insane turn around times on my work projects so any suggestions on how to speed up the renders and exports would also be very appreciated.

If this is too simple a problem for this forum, I apologize for wasting your time.

You don’t mention what machine you are working on, but this does seem excessively long for render and export.
Can you provide a few more details about your setup and your project?

I’m working off a Mac Daul 2 Ghz PowerPC G5 with 4 GB of memory. The OS is 10.4.11 and I’m using FCP 6.0.3.

Any other specs that would be helpful?

    Hi Dave,

As I said in the original post the timeline came out to 2 minutes and 39 seconds. Any thoughts? Any help is greatly appreciated.
