I’m having a problem of opening my P2 files that was captured on a finalcut6 system(which is not my machine). Im running a finalcut5 system and the P2 movie files was just white with audio playback. do i have to convert my p2 files? how? I can’t install all of my current projs are on finalcut 5 and upgrading to 6 is still not an option for me. Thanks guys!

Which version of FCP 5? FCP 5.0.4 was the first to even support that format. And typically, P2 injested on higher versions of P2 don’t work on lower versions…especially FCP 5.0…

FCP 5.0.4 is my version. they ingest it using FCP 6. I guess the only solution for me was to update my system and spend some bucks for studio2. I hope it’s just a codec or something that i could get from FCP6.

The DVCPRO HD codec is something that you have on your computer, but when it comes to importing P2, FCP 5.0.4 was the first version to support that, and it was buggy. The import feature was fixed in later versions, but that meant that often the imported footage didn’t play properly in earlier versions, such as 5.0.4.

Why? No clue…I am not an engineer, just an editor that uses the format.
