My client shot a couple of 2 1/2 min shows on tape/edited them and gave them to me to put on my MAC G5 FCP 6 timeline. When I imported them, FCP said they weren’t optimized for FCP and to make a media manager copy. I have done so but on one, it doesn’t look any better and on the second, when I try to import it from the drive I saved it to with media manager, it is grey and won’t let me import it to my project. It says the project is already open but that is the original AVI not the improved media managed file I am looking for.
Is there any other way to import AVI files so that they play well or work within media manager?

I would use either Compressor or QuickTime Pro to convert the movie to the codec you’ll be editing in. I don’t like to use Media Manager for compression if I don’t have to.
