Project too large to open!?!?1
Posted by Max Frank on May 1, 2008 at 1:59 pmHi,
So I’ve got an FCP project file that’s over 400MB!
And, my Mac is struggling to open it.
Any way to strip or shrink or access the project file?
Thanks,
Wayne

May 1, 2008 at 5:36 pmI had a friend asl me about this same problem opening up a huge project file (don’t know that exact size) w/ over 30 sequences in it. The problem was solved by him copying the project file to his system drive and it opened fine. The file was on his media drives before.

May 1, 2008 at 5:48 pmYes. Where stops? And how did you “abort” the several attempts?
I don’t know if Jeremy will agree, but I would start trying to open a copy of the project from the AutoSave.
If this doesn’t works: putting the media offline. See if there is some corrupted media.I think the main cause of projects that do not open.
You can always try to open it in other computer, so you can see if there is a problem with the project file or a problem with your FC-System.Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1

Well, I finally got the project to open, but was getting ‘out of memory’ errors, and it quit before I could do anything to delete sequences, etc.
I’ll the tips above.
Thanks again for the help & concern.
