    need help!!!

I’ve got a 5 minute segment of 1080HD footage with some motion content and an animation in the beginning from AE CS3. Everytime i try to export it keeps crashing final cut. Running a Mac Pro Quad Core with:

    7 Gigs DDR2 Ram @ 667Mhz
    Kona 3 Video card
and exporting to a WD 7200 speed Hard Disk that is installed in the Mac Pro.

I’ve got to get a whole show exported but i’ve been working for a week just trying to get a 5 minute segment out. I have no clue how im going to export a 30 minute show. even when i try to play the segment FCP just sits there and looks at me like im stupid. i feel kinda ad getting dissed by my mac.

When i finally got this five minute exported it was 32GIGS!!!

what do i need to do? Ram issue? hard drive issue?
WIll a RAID configuration fix what ails me?
Any help here would be Golden

your doing 1080HD and you don’t have a raid?

what exactly are we looking at here as far as video codec.
what easy setup is this. is it dvcpro-hd or P2 or xdcam-hd?

    that would help first.

have you tried trashing the preferences?
do a forum or google search for it if you have not.

have you tried exporting a quicktime through the “quicktime conversion” option just to see if that works?

Have you tried selecting all the clips/audio and
rendering the sequence first BEFORE exporting?

what are you exporting it as anyway?

    You’ll get through it 🙂

I once had a 10-bit uncompressed SD timeline do this.
it would just close fcp unexpectedly during export.
fortunately an update to the next version fixed
that particular problem (don’t go running the updates at this point, could make it worse)

Which is the codec of your FC sequence? Is NONE for any chance?

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1
    G5 2x2Gh 4GbRAM-BlackMagic Extreme
    PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
    JVC DTV-17″
    SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table.

    Nope no Raid.
Yeah i know, i want one but this is my first experience with a 1080 workflow, I’ve worked in 720 and never had any problems.

what exactly are we looking at here as far as video codec.
The video Codec i’ve been trying to export as is the animation codec, but i’ve also tried exporting as the Default HDV1080i60 with the same result

The easy setup we are using is the…
    HDV- Custom Setup.
    sequence preset- HDV- 1080i60
Capture Preset HDV, we are capturing from firestore.
Playback output video- AJA Kona 1080i29.97 8-bit 1920×1080
    Audio Output: Fasttrack Pro
    Edit to tape/PDV: HDV 1440×1080 30fps

I tried trashing the preferences and it worked but i really don’t know how to do it, i’ll try looking, currently i am exporting the show in HD (IE taking each segment through compressor to make it SD then recompiling in Final Cut.

I tried exporting through the quicktime conversion setting and rendering before export, both with the same result.

I’m trying to export using the standard export to quicktime function. Im assuming the problem is all in my disk speed, ive never had any of these problems before moving to 1080

I really appriciate all the help. Thats why i always come to the COW first.

Heath, let’s back up a minute.

    You have an HDV sequence?

You need to Export this sequence to AE as an animation codec?

You have no raid or other drive?

How full is your one drive that you have?

You are using compressor to down convert for what?

Sorry, I am a bit confused by your workflow, please explain exactly what it is you are trying to do and we’ll get it solved.

    Jeremy
