Hi, I am capturing from a DVD and getting no audio on my clips. I’m just going firewire from the DVD to the computer. The video is fine and I can hear the audio previewing but can see nothing going in the audio tool, and then have no audio on the clips. I don’t see any options besides 48 kHz in all my capture and device settings, which I thought would be the first thing to change. Any ideas?

How about mac the ripper? I end up with _TS files. How do I import those? Will any DVD ripper give me mov’s?

Thank you to anyone who can help

I guess that you can legally copy the DVD, so I don’t think you need MacTheRipper. Open the VBO’s from inside your Video_TS folder with: MPGStreamClip. Then export as QT movie (.mov), not as DV. You would a get a DV stream
    You will love this application.

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1
    G5 2x2Gh 4GbRAM-BlackMagic Extreme
    PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
    JVC DTV-17″
    SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table.

    Thank you for responding.

I get nice mov’s with Streamclip but when I import them they behave oddly. Loaded in the viewer the screen is just blank white, but it plays out my Cinema display output. If I lay it down on a sequence it is un-rendered. I’ve tried H.264 and Apple ProRes 422 codecs in Streamclip. Any other ideas?

Help is so greatly appreciated, thank you.

This is so bizarre. HDV 1080p 30 or DVCPro 1080p 30 are the only options that allow me to even watch the clips in the viewer. But when I lay them down on the sequence it shows only the upper left quadrant of the frame. (Fit to window is selected.) What on earth?

    Hi Katrina,
    Strange things.
In MPEGStreamclip (Export to QT) select Frame size: DV NTSC or DV PAL depending of the DVD standard.
I would recommend you export in “Apple FCP Uncompress 8b”. Quality 100%.
You shouldn’t have problems editing this in FC.
Don’t use h264. Is a good code for delivery, but not for editing.
