  What CBR are you using for DVD?

  I recently noticed that both my FCP 6.01 systems are randomly showing blocky compression artifacts when making mpeg2 files for DVD. This seems to be a compressor issue as it once was not a problem.

  If I change the VBR one pass to CBR it works just fine.
  I do mostly TV spots so I’ll stick with that for now.

  I’ve got it set for 6.2mbps.

  just curious what all of you are setting it for.

  I use anywhere between 6.0 and 7.2, depending on the size of the file.

  If 6.0 still won’t fit on the disk, I’ll go to a VBR, but if it fits using that range I just stick with CBR.

  Remember to compress the audio to Dolby II files. If you’re leaving it as PCM files it wastes a lot of space on audio.

  yeah 6.0 seems like a good number.

  I always use Dolby at 256kbps to save room.
