Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Grainy Footage

    Hello,

I recently shot some footage on low light conditions, and as expected it turned out to be very grainy. I had two options, bringing the gain up or not getting a picture at all, so the gain was set at 12-15db.

Is there a plug in or some filter that can help get rid of some of the grain?

    Thanks a lot!

Only at the expense of sharpness. Grain removal filters that you will find in good compositing tools are used very subtley to clean film grain from the flat areas of film images before keying and such, when used at a level that will make a real difference when there is noise across the entire image, the image will be too soft to be useful.
