Sorry, I didn’t know where to post this question. So i just came to this because I always do.

Is there a cheaper way to buy MiniDV tapes in bulk rather than B&H. I know tape is cheap, but not really for a student who has been working a lot for free lately.

    Rob,

Student discounts are available at a lot of places. Call or email the folks at http://www.tapeonline.com and tell them you saw their ad here on the Cow and ask them for a student discount. If they turn you down report right back here and we’ll politely harrang them until they give in.

Tapeonline is the ONLY place I purchase all my media stock from MiniDV to HD to BluRay discs. Excellent people to deal with.

As David Roth Weiss mentioned, tapeonline.com supports the COW and they are also very great people to deal with — as Walter points out as well. They have been great supporters of Creative COW and we are grateful for their sponsorship of the COW. We just added another quad-Opteron (on Linux) and two new Xserve servers (on Leopard Server) to the COW’s server farm to support our ever increasing traffic levels. Without companies like TapeOnline.com, we just couldn’t afford to support a site like this, which now does well over 3/4s-of-a-million unique users a month. Wow. How did *that* happen? ;o)

I am sure that if you call them and are willing to fax them your proof of being a student, they will have some program for students.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.
