  After Effects Workflow

  Hello,

  I am new at integrating my FCP work into After Effects.

  I am editing something like a music video right now which means there are a lot of quick cuts in my sequence.

  Basically I would like to be able to add different AE effects to each of the shots within the sequence.

  Is there an easy way to do this with a single exported video to AE (a single two minute export), or do I have to export each of the shots individually to AE (many, many, many 2-4 second files).

  Any suggestions on how you all handle this, or directions to any links that explain this process would be much appreciated.

  You want the Automatic Duck Pro Importer for After Effects.

  You export an XML of your timeline in FCP.

  You Open that XML in AE using the Duck.

  Your entire timeline opens up, with all the cuts on their own layers and even handles for each shot intact.

  You apply effects to your heart’s content.

  If you want to work with a single Quicktime Movie, then you’ll have to slice that up in AE. VERY time consuming to say the least.
