  Exporting for web

  Is there a quick way to export my videos so I can put them on the web. I mean I have 5 videos of around 15 mins each to compress to around 70mbs or so just so a client can watch them, and they’re taking around an hour each, atleast. Is there no quick and simple way of doing it or is it just because compressing takes a long time?

  With software encoding you basically have 3 desires:

  1) Fast compression
  2) Small file
  3) High quality video

  You can pick 2 of the 3. Right now you’re picking the best two, size and quality. I suggest sticking with that plan rather than compromising just to be done quicker.

  The only way to speed things up is with a faster computer or a dedicated hardware encoder. Other than that, we’re all stuck making this choice.

  Out of interest – what is the best way to speed up compression? Even if it means comrpomising on quality?

  Here’s a scenario – we did a shoot, where we just filmed 3 guys being interviewed, and lasted around 10 mins. A previous company supposedly imported and gave her the footage there and then. I tried it and it just ended up taking far too long. I mean is it best to give them the uncompressed imported video, or is there a really quick way to compress it to supply straight away. Does compressing it to a different format help or say using a different codec?
