    Hi and happy Friday,

Just wondered what I should be looking for by way of a microphone for recording guide VO.
USB or analogue – are there any FCP issues with receiving audio for this that mean I should choose one over the other? Is there a particular (cheap) model anyone can reccomend to me? I’m using G5 (and sometimes a macbook).

In the past I’ve used a professional condenser mic going through a pre-amp and then into the machine but it’s frankly impractical for a mobile suite.

    Thanks in advance.

Blue Snowball is a great, cheap USB mic that you can use directly in FCP or even use Quicktime Player to record VO’s.

We originally intended just to use it for guide tracks and podcasts, but we did use it for a couple of broadcast news stories.

Yup – I’d had my eye on this but was looking for something cheaper – just for guide stuff really.

then look at those USB headset things with the microphone. You can pick up a logitech for about $25 or less. The microphone definitely works with Quicktime Audio Recorder, not sure about FCP directly.

[walter biscardi] “but we did use it for a couple of broadcast news stories. “

It’s almost too good, ain’t it?

    Ain’t ain’t a word, by the way.
