  Ensuring 16:9 letterbox

  I have an HDV widescreen project and want it to go to 16:9 in DVD. The file that i sent to DVD SP looks like widescreen and is checked so in the DVD SP preference and on the track inspector but on some monitors is coming up as 4:3 and smushing the image. Is there anything I can do in FCP to guarantee that it will be seen 16:9.

  Besides flagging the DVD properly on your end during authoring, which it sounds like you’re doing, both the monitor and the DVD player must be setup properly (in the menu settings), which most owners don’t know how to do. If that’s not done correctly all of your hard work is meaningless.
