    Hello there!

I’m currently into one of those projects in which you shoot a guy in front of a green screen, then key the footage and apply the Tint effect (After Effects 7.0) so that you get the whole guy in plain black as if he were a vectorial image. Everything works fine but when I scale my “vectorial guy” up to 600% or more, the edges blur. I know I’m not working with vectors but with video and it’s very unlikely they behave the same way, but I was wondering if there is a quick way (I don’t want to spend the rest of my life time rotoscoping) to sharpen the edges, so that the whole thing looks more like a vectorial animation.

unsharp mask… It’ll clean up a bit of the blur.

Or (if you have time) export the clip as a jpg sequence and use a script in illustrator to live trace the lot of them, then import them back into ae as an image sequence. (if it’s black on white, etc… add a deletion of that color into your live trace script recording and save as png, psd, tif, etc… that supports alhpa)

Look for posts in here on cartooning footage, it can be applied to your questions.
