  • Web videos/resume advice?

    Hi

Wanted to get some advice on the best resources and way to get my own web site with hosting and videos for resume purposes.

I just need about 5 web pages (which I will author), about 10 or so video clips under 30MB each. Where can I go to get my own domain name, and can I have the video clips play at once, when someone clicks on it without downloading? Lastly, should I export the clips from FCP 6.0.2 as FLV or mov files?

    Thanks much

    K

You can buy domain names almost anywhere. I use GoDaddy.com

The easy way to do it is use iWeb and get a .Mac account.

Great, Thanks – I called GoDaddy and they said they don’t host the kind of video that a person can click on and it plays. I wanted to create my own design with Dreamweaver, if so can I use iweb still or .mac?

What about FLV or mov for the files out of FCP?

    I made this with iWeb…

    http://www.shanerosseditor.com

I registered shanerosseditor.com at GoDaddy, then had it forward traffic to my iWeb pages. VERY easy to make, as I am a complete NOOB at web design.

So yeah, get .mac to be your server, and then iWeb to make the web pages, and GoDaddy to get an easy address to tell people to go to.

Shane I think something with your domain masking is not working, the link works but once there you see the address https://web.mac.com/comeback/Site/Home.html.

I’m not masking the main domain name. When I do that, no matter WHAT link they go to, it always says http://www.shanerosseditor.com. I like to just give someone an easy address to remember. I don’t care too much what it displays.

    Kent,

I also use GoDaddy and their servers are fast enough in most cases to serve up progressive h.264 video and Flash video, unless you have dozens of people at a time clicking on your site. Click on the link below for a test.

If you set it up in the .Mac Preferences, it will also give you the / and the extended link on each page will be different.
