Hey guys. I have a client that is requesting their video to be delivered in mpeg-1 format on a CD. They show the video in some kind of presentation software that requires it to be mpeg 1. I don’t know anythign about this format. How can i convert my 7 min. video to mpeg1 and keep the good quality? Thanks guys for any help.

You do this with Compressor. Export a ref movie from FCP, import that into Compressor, & use the mpeg1 preset. Compressor has an online manual in the “Help” menu if you need further help.

As Arnie suggest you can do it with Compressor, but the easier way is with Toast. Just select VCD, drag your movie and insert an empty CD.
MPG1 is oldfashioned. Even in Asia the VCDs are disappearing. Now there are codecs that for the same data rate gives you much more quality.
If you want your MPG1 looks acceptable, de-interlace it before compression.

..and always a big mess on top of the table.

Hey guys. I used the preset in compressor but there is no audio when I play it back. What could be the deal? When you say to use compressor…do i use the dvd mpeg 1 preset or is there another one? Thanks guys. Oh, and I don’t have toast so that wont work. Thanks though.
