  fcp & ex-1 system

  Hello to all…trying to figure out if i can use my ppc g5 to edit ex-1 footage…my current set-up is a dual 2gig g5 with 6gigs of ram and 1.8tb of sata storage…currently running os10.4.9
  & fcp 6.0…i think all i need is a hd monitor & aja io hd…thinking of the panasonic 1700 monitor with built in scopes. also looking to buy the sony ex-1….please advise what else i’m missing in the possible set-up.

  In addition to your Power Mac G5 you’ll need to upgrade your FCP to version 6.0.2 and Quicktime to version 7.3 or better. The Mac OS needs to be version 10.4.11 or better.

  You’ll need the Sony Transfer Tool software. You’ll also need the Sony FAM software driver software so your G5 will recognize your EX1 (or more specifically the onboard SxS Pro memory card) when you connect via USB. The Sony stuff is all free.

  You can also get the free Sony Clip Browser Software but it only works on Intel Macs and it’s not really necessary for your purposes.

  Oh, and you’ll need an EX1. Now you’re good to go.
