FCS Upgrade- hard drive space
I am finally upgrading my Final Cut Studio to Final Cut Studio 2 on my MacPro and MacBook Pro. I upgraded my MacBook Pro first. It’s a 17″ with 100gb of storage. By the time I finished upgrading Final Cut I only have 14.7GB of space left on the internal drive. Is this normal?
It leaves hardly any space for any other files or documents. Fortunately I removed all of my documents which amounted to about 10 GB before upgrading Final Cut.
Am I supposed to remove old versions of the upgraded software? If so, where do I find them? FCS, DVDSP and the rest show up in my applications folder as being the upgraded versions.

Its not the actual applications that take up a lot of space, its all the extra content. The sound loops, dvd studio pro elements, motion elements, live types…. etc.
If you dont use these then it makes sense to not install them on your system. Installing just the apps is under 3GIGS.

Off the top of my head I don’t know where those templates, loops, etc are located. You can probably find the location of them in a search of the forums.
Another option is you can actually install all the templates loops etc onto an external hard drive, thus saving a LOT of space in the internal drive.
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!
