  log and transfer settings for sony hd-sr8 (AVCHD)

  I’m just starting to use FCP and am familiar with iMovie, etc. I have been watching tutorials, and have gotten some clips logged in just fine. I guess that I would very much appreciate some tips as to where my settings should be as I just start to use FCP 6, and as I log and transfer these clips (Sony hd-sr8). I am worried that I am not importing these clips in the best possible resolution, or that my settings are off. Would someone please spell out/take me through these initial settings? Thanks so much!
