DVCPROHD 60fps frame repeats
Hi to anyone who can help me with this! I have some footage that I’m trying to work with that is behaving a little strangely, to me. I did not shoot or capture it, but I do have to work with it, so I’m trying to figure out what the heck is going on. FCP identifies the footage as DVPROHD 720p footage at 59.94fps. When I look at the footage, though, each frame appears for six frames in a row, making it an effective 10fps. Like this: AAAAAA BBBBBB CCCCCC DDDDDD EEEEEE FFFFFF etc. etc. I know nothing about how DVCPROHD works at 60fps, so maybe this is what it’s supposed to look like?
I know the footage was shot with the intention of getting a sort of edgy/fuzzy effect, but it still seems to me like there should be a new image in each frame. I ran a little of it through Compressor and turned it into DVCPROHD 720p 23.98fps, and it looks better on playback, but obviously since there are so many repeated frames in the original the pulldown still ran into a number of those, and there are quite a few repeats in the converted piece. (AAA BB CC DDD EE FFF GG HH…)
Any thoughts are welcome. I’m thoroughly confused, myself.
Thanks in advance for your help!
