Working on a MacPro OSX 10.4.11, 2x 2.66 Dual Core, 4 gig of Ram. FCP Studio 2 (FCP v.6.0.2)
    BlackMagic Intensity Card.

I’m working on an animated television show. Animation is being created in After Effects, rendered out as qt’s and imported into FCP. In addition, we’re working with Photoshop documents in FCP, animating them in FCP. Here’s our current sequence setup –

Apple Pro Res HQ, Pixel Aspect Ratio – Square. 1280×720 frame size, 29.97 fps.

One person has said that 29.97 is a weird frame rate to be using with 720HD. Is this true? We’ve definitely been having problems downconverting and exporting to SD DVDs. This problem has been helped significantly by converting to 59.94 within FCP, then exporting and downconverting.

Working with the blackmagic intensity card, the 29.97 image looks fine on an external consumer video monitor. But the image looks pixellated when looking at a 59.94 image. We’re using the HDMI output of the video card.

Ultimately, I’m just trying to figure out the best FCP sequence setup for working in 1280×720 and having the ability to output to 1080 HD (I realize we’ll have to upres) and SD 4×3. Thanks.
