  • Help with setting up a project and using Cinema Tools (Reverse Telecine)

    Hello,

I’m setting up a project in FCP 6.0.2 that was shot in 24p on a Panasonic HDX900. The masters were then downconverted to DVCAM 29.97 for offline editing. We are also using archival footage that originated on a variety of formats, but has been transferred to DVCAM. Someone told me that I should set up the project as a 23.98 project and then use Cinema Tools to Reverse Telecine the footage that was downconverted, while leaving the archival footage at 29.97 (so that we can later upconvert it to 23.98).

What is the best way to do this process using Cinema Tools?

Also, if there isn’t any key number window burn, is there any other way of determining the field capture information?

Should I select “New (smaller)” or “Same (faster),” or does this really matter?

    As for the PROJECT SETTINGS:

Should I set the Sequence Preset to DV NTSC 48 kHz – 23.98

…and the Capture Preset to DV NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic (the original footage is native 16×9)

Are there any other settings that I should know about, or anything else that I should do in order to properly set up this project.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
