    Hi,

    I have a G5 MB Pro, FCS2 and a Canon HV20.

For a business project I have shot some exercise technique on the Canon, shot in HD. I shot it in HD as I was told it was easier to work with the key when editing. The goal of the footage after editing is to have it viewable on via the web and also on the iPod video.

I have 2 problems, if someone could help me with these that would be great.

    1. When I view the imported footage on FC6, when the model moves quickly it has vertical streaks in the footage. Did I import it correctly? Have I done something wrong?

    2. Even though it is shot in HD.. how to I change it to SD and still maintain the original aspect of the footage (as it is lagging my computer out in HD). Will it be much harder to key out after this?

    Thanks for all your help!

How are you monitoring? If you’re watching your interlaced HDV footage in the FCP canvas on your computer screen you will see the interlacing. As is written here several times every day of the week, judging playback without a proper video monitor or TV just doesn’t cut it.

Also, as you were told, do your keying in HD.

HDV has the playback requirements ordinary DV, there is no reason it should be slowing down your computer, other than perhaps longer render times.
