    Hi,

My Mac is set up with dual screens. I have custom set all my windows in FCP so that my bins are on one screen and my viewers are on the opposite screen. These are set so that every time I start the system up the program always opens the way I have set it up, but when my system crashes (and it has been doing so often)and I have to re-boot, all my windows end up on one screen, which means I have to reset all my windows from scratch. Any ideas why this keeps happening?

    Thanks

No, but why don’t you save your own custom layout?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

I actually have already done this. If I shut down at the end of the day all my settings stay the same when I reboot in the morning. It happens when I’m using the program and it crashes that all my settings are erased. Once this happens I have redo custom settings, again, for my window layout.

It sounds like a good time to install FCP Rescue:

    https://fcprescue.andersholck.com/

It’s a stand-alone app that backs up a lot of your user preferences and settings and allows you to trash and restore those settings. I’m pretty sure that it will back up your window layouts and restore them when you have a hard crash. Good luck.
