  Sony GV-D1000 dropping frames

  I have a Sony GV-D1000 and using it with Final Cut Studio 2 on a PowerMac G5 with 4GB RAM. When capturing it is dropping frames… I am not sure why. I had this device sent in for service and was told nothing is wrong with it.

  I am using NTSC tapes with it and it is a NTSC device. Anyone else have problems with this hardware. Thanks for any comments.

  James- Does the video play on the DV walkman without dropping frames?

  This doesn’t sound like a deck issue. Dropping frames is usually a drive issue. Make sure your system drive is not set as your scratch drive.

  For setting scratch drive read FCP Manual Volume 1 pg. 207 Setting Scratch Disk

  Then read this; FCP Manual Volume 1 pg. 161: Connecting DV Video Equip

  I have this same Sony deck. But I can’t get my Mac or FCP to see the deck.

  It works fine on my PC with Premiere Pro, but my FCP will not detect the deck. What can I do? What setting do you use to operate your deck in FCP?
