I am going to be working on a project next month that i will be downloading and editing. It is a long form narrative that will be shot on the HPX3000. We are going to be shooting the AVC-Intra 1080P-100. I understand that the only way i can edit in FCP is transferring it into the ProRes 422 Codec, i will probably be working in ProRes HQ because its suppose to be the best, right?

Now my question is, is this the format that i also master in? Because from my understanding there is really no other option right? If their is i would to hear other suggestions. Not sure what the exact output will be for because it will on depend on the type of distribution deal, but either way i want to be prepared.

    Thanks,

    Travis

AVC-Intra cannot be edited natively within FCP. When you import, you have a choice between ProRes or ProResHQ in the log and transfer Prefs. I would opt for HQ. The 3000 shoots awesome images, it’s Panasonic’s best effort yet. The AVC-Intra 100 looks real nice as well. It shoots 1080p23.976 native with no pulldown. Finally!

You can also master in PRHQ. In my use of it, it has been holding up real well. I sometime render to 10bit Uncompressed for graphics, but perhaps it’s because I really liked the outcome of my old 10bit workflow and am not ready to totally abandon it. Editing in PRHQ will be just fine and I encourage you to edit in ProResHQ.

    Good luck with your project.
