I’m working on a student film. The film has been telecined, and I have the FLEx files and ALEs. The telecine house captured the footage for us to ProRes 422. They captured the whole tapes (2 hrs. on one tape, 45 min. on the other). I can’t seem to figure out how to get the Cinema Tools database, which uses the imported FLEx files, to sync up with the captured clips. whenever i try to assign the database records to the clip (the video reel numbers match the quicktimes), it asks if i want to reassign this clip. it seems to want an individual quicktime clip for each take, but the quicktimes i have cover many takes and may camera rolls. is it even possible to get this to work?

i don’t know if i’m explaining this correctly, but i’ll clarify if you have questions. thanks in advance for the advice.

Forget Cinema Tools for the moment. Import ALE in FCP and try to reconnect clips in the bin to the QT files. If the TC track in the QT files is correct it might work. Check it against the slates and the burn-in. Then select all the clips in the bin and do batch export. This will give you individual clips CT will like. Create new project and start working as if you had individual files from the beginning. I might experiment with batch-exporting reference movies instead of self-contained but only if you have very loose schedule.
