    Hey guys,

Having strange issue with sound. I’m in the process of syncing sound to picture and for some reason I can’t hear some of the sound files. They all come from the same batch, from the same day, and they are all wav files… I just can’t hear playback on some of the files. The I can see the waveforms in the sound files and they even get levels when they are playing back! All I get is a bunch of silence. I’m sure this is some kind of stupid setting I’ve messed with accidentally but for right now it just sucks. Any ideas? I’m quite sure the sound files are ok because they play fine on the desktop. What the heck is going on?

    Thanks-

have a look at the coloured line along the top of the timeline – if its red above the offending sound files, then they need to be rendered (i don’t have fcp open and can’t remember the exact button – you need to select the option called render for playback only)

It could be that the timeline is set to a different audio setting (44.1 / 48khz, or 16bit, 24 bit, etc ). Sometimes you find that even if the files claim to be the same as the timeline it still needs rendering….don’t ask me why though, i don’t know)

Any way you probably just need to render them.
