  • Crashing upon rendering and Trashing the preferences in 6.0?

    Hi all,

I’ve been having a bear of a time on a project that I’ve been working on. I exported the timeline to motion to clean up some animation keyframes and when I then when I tried to bring the motion project back into FCP and tried to render, the program wasn’t a bit happy. Crashed on me over five times during the render. So, to make things a bit easier, I rendered a quicktime out from motion, then imported it into FCP for some still titles. But when I tried rendering out that timeline the computer crashed over and over again as well. I was able to get it to finish the work as an auto-render which for some reason didn’t crash. Anyhow, I’m wondering if I need to trash my preferences like I did with my old FCP but it seems the files aren’t the same as before.

Can someone tell me the proper files that I need to trash in FCP 6? I don’t want to make things worse than they are by deleting the wrong ones.

    Thanks,

    Michael Escher

PS – I ordered Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard in the mail and am hoping that by installing it I can get rid of these annoying crashes when I try to render. Anyone else have these issues?

Render out of Motion first and bring the QT movie back into FCP.

Rendering Motion projects in FCP can be problematic.

Right. I did that. And it’s still crashing when I render the QT file with the simple, non-moving titles I did in FCP. It still crashes all the time.

Yeah, i have problems with motion as well.

Download this little utility to trash your FCP preferences:

Thanks Jeremy, I’ll trash the prefs and see what happens.
