    Hi,

if I put 3 x 750GB seagate barracudas inside a macpro (as well as the system drive) and stripe the 3 of them RAID0 with disk utility, will that give me enough performance for ProRes HQ (in HD)? I’ll use external firewires for backup!

    Thanks

Yes, that is well beyond the amount of performance required for ProRes. You can easily edit one stream of Uncompressed HD on that array. Just make sure the block size is 128k for best performance with video.

750GB drives by themselves are almost twice as fast as smaller drives. So your array is probably 200MB/s or faster.
